Hi guys, I have recently bought this VCR, as a late birthday present.

I was wondering if it has a TBC built in or not. If it doesn't, that's ok. I am currently in the looks of getting a Panasonic DMR-es15 in the future. At least this VCR is better, than that Mono RCA VCR I currently own. Another thing, I have seen a JVC Hr-S75000 on the same site go below 100, which is extremely rare for a VCR that is needed.

Nope. But it does have the "Picture Control" modes, so it should do some filtering/noise reduction.

The lower-end SVHS JVCs have the same internals and video circuits as the tbc ones from the same lineup other than the TBC board (they got a simpler "2d digital) NR/SVHS board instead). So, the output quality is similar to the TBC-models with the tbc/dnr turned off. For that matter, most of the hi-fi models share much of the internals (including the video ic) other than the digital and svhs-specific stuff and lack the tape-stabilizer thingy on the mechanism, so even those have pretty decent quality (just composite only)

So does this mean I will experience less jittering in capture compared to my mono VCR I currently own at the moment? Also, is this considered a high end vcr, since it has HR-S in it? My Capture Card is a DazzledDVC100. For the most part, it works fine on my MSi A6200 with Windows 10 being used since upgrading before the discontinuation of Windows 7. I am aware about the OS issues, but I have been so far since 2020 not having much problems. Main reason for frame drops is because of a poor quality VCR. Which, is the reason I got the chance get one that's at least HQ with S-Video. It will probably be my setup for now until possibly 2022 or this year, depending on how much I have to spend on a Panasonic Dmr-es15.

In terms of S-VHS decks, no this would not be a high-end model due to the lack of TBC. But in terms of VCRs overall it's definitely not low-end--sort of a "middle of the road" option I guess.

I'm not sure that it will reduce jitter since that's normally a job for a TBC. It does have the "picture stabilizer" mode though, so you could try that to see if it helps.

It should certainly be better than your other VCR. But it may not be quite as good as you'd get with a JVC that has a built-in TBC. You'll just have to try it and see. You could always try adding a Panasonic ES10 or ES15 DVD recorder to give you some time base correction (search here for lots of info on those).
