I have Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on an old DELL Dimension 4300 using VirtualDub. Trying to get an ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB to show both the left and right audio but am only getting the left channel to work. To confirm this was not a problem with the output from my VCR I plugged in another audio source with the same result. (Using an audio tape deck) I had first tried this on an install using Windows XP Pro SP3 and thought it may be worth a shot to try it on SP2 so reinstalled windows. Before the reinstall I did also try a capture using VLC from the ATI TV Wonder with the same results, only the left channel audio recorded. Maybe an issue with the driver I'm using or maybe my ATI TV Wonder is just busted? Any suggestions would be appreciated. In the screenshots I've attached it shows that the Catalyst Install Manager fails to install but I did not think that was critical in what I needed from this.

This is not a driver issue.

You have missing audio. Either:
- AV cable on the ATI is defective
- RCA audio cables defective
- VCR output defective

ATI CMC not installing is likely not related. ATI CMC doesn't report dropped frames for the MPEG, and is mostly useless as a result. It's software MPEG capture, not hybrid hardware like the AIW AGP/PCI, which uses MMC with the proper counter. This card is ideal used for lossless in VirtualDub.

Thanks lordsmurf. I ended up using an old soundblaster card to capture the audio and it seems to work alright. I've ordered a another ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB so I'll see if the A/V cable included with that one works any better. If that is the case are you aware of a place online I can get a backup A/V cable that will fit that port on the ATI TV Wonder HD 600 USB or are those a package deal? I found that Hauppauge makes one similar for one of their wintv units that looks to have the same port. Just has a ferrite bead inline. Don't know if that would be an issue?

Ordered from where? Realize that lots of defective and incomplete capture cards are sold on eBay. Most people do not realize the issues until after the return window, because video capture isn't a simple task. BS like that is why I started to provide capture cards on the marketplace subforum here several years ago.

I have a stash of extra cables.
