Lines appearing on capture?

1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

New here, and new to this process and I hope this is the correct section!.

I'm capturing some VHS using a cheap capture device (SVG 2.0 A3) and powerdirector, however I notice that these lines appear every now and then, would this be the VHS tape itself, the capture device or the VCR that I'm using? How can I stop this? I have attached an image to the post.

In this case you can see it's the pink line on the right hand side.

I will be hopefully getting a better capture device soon.

Thanks!

That's interlacing.

I don't know what that is. Also, that capture card is bad. You need a better capture card, like Dazzle DVC100.

Do you see the artifacts when connected from the VCR to TV? They look like data loss to me since you are using the wrong software and dodgy hardware.

Cheers for the help guys. Proper newbie when it comes to this!

What would be a suggested budget capture device & software to use? Have tried VirtualDub and OBS and both seem good but I reckon it's the capture device that is letting me down.

Why did I just say a Dazzle DVC100 in my earlier comment? Another thing, I've been on this forum for more than 3 months.

What OS?
ATI 600 USB is one of the better quality cards, or clones for certain problem OS.
Also remember to check the marketplace subforum: http://www.digitalFAQ.com/forum/marketplace/

No. OBS is screen recording software, not analog capture software. Wrong tool.

Both hardware and software are failing you.
