Hello,

I'm looking for PAL Canon camcorder hi8 with internal TBC.
I can't find any information about TBC on PAL canon hi8 camcorder, does that exists ?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards,

Chrisbati

It pretty much Sony was the leader in the format they created, I doubt you will find any better camcorder than a decent Sony one. The've gotten little more expensive lately due to a surge in capturing but you can still find one with broken camera side for reasonable price if the tape playback is the only feature desired.

I'll advise Sony too if this is what you desire.

Based purely on my camcorder pile, Sony's seem to last considerably better than Canon models. I'm a Canon camera nut, but I don't think I'd invest in an old videotape camcorder from them!

The Canon A1DIgital, L1 and L2 included digital DSP on playback that provided a sort of TBC effect (at least in the NTSC versions). They had a 1/2 inch sensor, and could produce a good image back in the 1990s. However, these camcorders tended to develop what appear to be capacitor issues over time. They are now over 25 years old and I would be surprised if you can find one that works well.
