The videos will always be played on a pc, I wouldn't need DVDs.

I agree, the need was to maintain these conditions for the videos to be archived:
- mask the dancing edges of the VHS with black
- keep the original interlacing
- keep square pixels (PAR 1: 1)
- maintain a 4:3 ratio (SAR and DAR 4:3)
- that's why stop at the MPEG2 @ 4:2:2 interlaced format with
HuffyUV encoding for
archiving.
- From here, possibly do a deinterlacing for a progressive H.264 encoding
It remains for me to understand the intermediate resolutions, the acquisition starts in PAL 720x576 (5:4).
With the audio part I had no problems with sync, the other method would be to put everything in the ATI video card, right? I didn't notice any delays however.
