ATI TV Wonder 2.0 + AIW9600XT on same XP: problems?
A have an XP machine with an ATI AIW 9600XT AGP card. Nonetheless, when I found someone selling an ATI TV Wonder 2.0 USB capture device still sealed in a clamshell, I couldn't resist. After installing the drivers for ATI 600 USB by mistake, I then installed the correct drivers for the ATI TV Wonder 2.0 USB (180_V01089_100.zip) and XP detected it and it was ready to use.
Here's where things go sideways. 1. In VirtualDub1911, I selected the ATI TV Wonder 2.0 USB as the video source. But what appeared on screen was like half the vertical image, or a squished vertical image. I immediately checked the capture pin and crossbar and it was set the same way as my other capture device. I did a capture and the result was the very widescreen video. I must be doing something wrong, but what? 2. Then when I went to change the audio source to the ATI TV Wonder 2.0 USB (instead of using my sound card), VirtualDub had an out-of-bounds memory crash. I tried several times and tried after restarting XP. No luck. What could be causing this error? I know the best practice is to send the sound to the sound card, but I wanted to see if I could have ATI TV Wonder 2.0 do all the work. 3. Then after disconnecting the ATI TV Wonder 2.0 and returning to my normal workflow with the ATI AIW 9600XT, I noticed in my captures that the video was now slightly ahead of the audio right from the start. Could the installation of the ATI TV Wonder 2.0 drivers and/or having two ATI devices in one system have created this issue?
