I am thinking of getting a new card for my computer and would like to know what everyone thinks of this card. Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 Video Card, 8x AGP, 128MB DDR I am not a big gamer but will capture from my vcr time to time. ThanksWineslurper Mike

I have the same exact card, works great for me!
If I were you, I would download MMC 9.02 from ATI's website, and not the newest version of MMC.

Was away over the weekend, but it looks like jrnyhead gave some solid advice I would agree with.

The "numbers" on the cards refer solely to the graphics card. The video portion is unrelated, and is the same on all ATI AIW RADEON class cards. The 9000 series cards uses the next-gen THEATRE 200 video chips, though not much different from the THREATRE 100 (aka RAGE THEATRE) chips from the 7000-8000s series.

Used cards are often fine for about $50-75 on eBay, but for a new card, the 9600 is the one to get, should be somewhere between $100-200, depending on where it's from (I've not tracked prices on those lately).

You should find most of what you'll need to know, in regard to capturing with ATI MMC, on digitalFAQ.com. The AVI and MPEG capture guides are on the main menu of this site, and it would be a good idea to read some of the other capturing guides if you have not already.

And then if you have any more questions, you're in the right place to ask. http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

Hi folks. I recieved the 9600xt and put it in. I downloaded MMC 9.02 installed everything and it working fine. I did not have any dropped frames as near as I could tell. I used the MMC that came with the card but I dropped less than 1% frames. But when I changed to 9.02 all went well. Thanks for the advice.

Be sure to change it from a % number to a frame count. Right click on it, and change how the info is displayed. This should be covered on the ATI guides on this site.

Good to hear the card went in without any major issues. Enjoy!
