i want to capture some stuff with CMC (not VHS transfer - just SD TV)
what settings in CMC should be used for best results.
i know for VHS transfer using the default isnt the best.
ive never tried to capture tv with it before

or would it be better just to use my DR-M100?

Its a custom setting, 352x480 set to 4000 bitrate, audio set to 48k. I wouldn't use the good, better, best, but use the custom instead. As far as MPEG settings go, standard device settings apply. (I don't have my ATI600 with me atm to give you a better answer, trying to go off memory.)

If you can take some screen samples I can try and help you out a bit more.

what about the "capture quality setting"? (not even sure what that does)
fixed or variable bitrate?
under advanced there is also "frames in GOP" and "B frames".

Variable bitrate.
GOP should be around average, 1I 4P 2B, or something like tat. And 15 max.
Capture quality settings? Need screen caps.

i tried those settings and it was significantly worse that the "best" setting.
again this is SD TV from a Dish Network DVR - not a VHS transfer.
i would like to now exactly what the "best" setting are, but CMC doesn't let me view them.

it is very annoying that Dish wont simply allow me to transfer the stuff off it via usb.
only way to get them off the DVR is to play in real-time and capture.
