Best way to test DataVideo TBC-1000?

Mine is due to arrive any time. I have two days to contact seller to return if it doesn't work. What's the best way to test this device? I've never worked with one of these before. I can try to find a tape that is bouncy, but not sure if I have one.

Bouncy tapes aren't really a test. While it can help with jitter (non-technical definition, aka small "bouncing" of image), it's more about signal purity than image clean-up.

Play a tape known to have Macrovision. Most official VHS releases have it. My favorite tape is "Liar, Liar" with Jim Carrey because the Macrovision is pretty aggressive on it. It's a late 1990s tape. With a good TBC, the image is perfect. Without proper sync/TBC, all hell breaks loose on screen.

I tested my TBC just now. I used one of my Walt Disney VHS tapes. Since I don't have my dr-m100 yet, I figured I would test it using both my sr-v10's (vhs to vhs). I taped a little of the Disney tape without the TBC... played it back... wow, there is definite copyright protection on it! Then I taped the same segment with the TBC hooked up.... played it back and... ALL of the lines and junk were GONE! So, I think that means it's working. I didn't notice any softness or color issues with the TBC. It should have been noticeable if this was one of the TBC's with those issues, right? That TBC is an amazing piece of equipment!

Based on that description, I believe it's working as intended. :)
