That CCD-TR93 capture has a ton of time-base errors.

Post a comparison with the same capture setup/drivers, just different camcorders. It'll give a truer sense of the playback difference between the two units. With 8mm, the choice is clear, go Sony or go home!

Both versions have some timing distortion (horizontal jitter). Notice the "JU" on the bottom right. Neither is straight.

It almost seems like the comparison isn't quite fair.
Compro VideoMate vs LifeView FlyVideo may have more to do with this than the two cameras do.
