Is it possible to capture component video signal
Hello,
Still thinking if we can press some juice from European S-VHS player with SCART output? Since YPbPr > S-VIDEO SCART allow RGB analog component video. If I use a RGB (SCART) to Component (YPbPr) Video Converter. Is it possible to capture YPbPr component signal with a set-up similar for s-video? Thanks |
Finally impossible :o

You can record both RGB and YPbPr with any capture card. I have developed this technique, however it's easier if you can buy a component card
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/pro...videorecorder/ www.hauppauge.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html However there's no point, as VHS is originally stored in an S-Video like signal. I have also done the experiment of storing my own design of signal to VHS, to do component. Yes it looks great, but still blurry. http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-107923.html http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-108020.html |

VHS is heterodyned/color-under recording, which results in downconverted chroma/color + luminance/detail. It's very similar to s-video (separated video) which is luma + chroma. Composite is a single luma/chroma signal. All data is in a single data stream. (Laserdisc is composite.) |
