Lordy, I know you aren't too much of a fan of the EH55 burner due to the lousy encoders. But, can I use the EH55 for the same benefits as a passthru as you recommed the es10 be used?

No, the EH55 is too old, it's not part of the ES10-and-later series of machines that did filtering.

The ES10 is regarded as the best in that series (ES15, ES20, ES25), but apparently some of the still-on-the-shelf "EZ" series machines can also filter in this manner. I'd look for a DVD-recorder-only "EZ" series machine for cheap (not a combo, no hard drive, etc).
