i just took apart a Sony SLV-R1000 to replace the infamous broken blue loading arm gear.
got it back together and everything works fine except rewind.
it rewinds for a few seconds and then stops.
ive taken it back apart 3 times and cant see what i did wrong.
im thinking it is a timing or tension issue.
anybody have any idea or the service manual.

i must say compare to a JVC the Sony is a flimsy malconceived cuckoo-clock

a big chunk of the service manual seems to be missing from that .pdf
it skips from page 48 to 167

It's not a VCR I have so it's a manual that I found elsewhere online. I didn't check it after downloading.
If you come across a better one, post it.

A trick I like to use is to search for the manual you want, then skip to page 20 of the Google results. Then work backwards towards page 1. You're far more likely to find low-ranked non-scam sites with manuals using this method. The top rankings for generic "service manual" searches are the result of scamming SEO, and have simply not yet all be downgraded as the fake crap they are. Google did wipe out a lot of them in 2010 and 2011, however, which was good to see.
