Panasonic AG-5710 (AG-1980) can play VHS-C as 16x9?

Hey guys,
Just got my Panasonic AG 5710 (AG 1980) back from a refurb and the picture is better than any other VCR I've seen, (even compared to my prized JVC HR S6900U). I'm trying to copy a family members VHS-C tapes circa 1999. Is there a way to capture it and stretch it to 16X9 instead of 4X3? I notice on the controls of the deck, there is a switch for Auto, Wide, and NOR. Would this have something to do with this? I'm just not a fan of watching videos and then seeing black bars on the sides of the image.

No.

This is something that would have to be performed in editing software.
