Sony RDR-VX560 and video errors on screen

I've read the forum located here: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/3...907a937c93047a

I am working on a documentary involving Hurricane Katrina and need to digitize VHS, VHS-C, 8mm/Hi8, and Mini-DV tapes, and a lot of them! I am in the process of acquiring a JVC C-P7U adaptor for the VHS-C tapes. I currently have a Sony DVD Recorder/VCR Combo (RDR-VX560) that I am considering using.

But, after reading, I'm not sure if I should. Obviously, I'd like the best quality image fed through either S-video or component (preferably component). But, the issue I've run into with the RDR-VX560 is that I am unable to capture ONLY the video and not the on-screen overlays such as "Play" and "Tracking..." that eventually blink away. This is undesirable because much of the action occurs in the beginning of the tape and right after "breaks" in video, causing the VCR to auto-track, which in turn causes a "Tracking..." overlay. I am unable to disable these. So, I wanted your advice on next steps. Thank you so much in advance.

Best quailty would be:
Good JVC VCR > TBC > Good LSI Logic equipped DVD Recorder

The best LSI Logic are the JVC DVD Recorders.

The RDR is a junk VCR, and with the JVC VCR you will be able to turn off all the warnings and notifications so that wont be an issue when capturing, it will also clean up the video some and help stabilize it as well. The TBC will ensure that the signal going to the DVD Recorder is stable. And the combo deck you have is also not that great. A DVD Recorder with LSI Logic will give you the best possible quality.
