Mitsubishi HS-HD2000U D-VHS for VHS archiving
 

I have not seen much in this forum relative to the Mitsubishi HS-HD2000U D-VHS as a VHS transfer unit, so I opted to start a new thread.

I have the opportunity to purchase this unit from a local seller for about $200 (negotiable) and was wondering how it would compare as a VHS playback unit for capture to PC (ATI 600 USB) and/or DVD recorder (Panny EH-50). I really have no interest in the DVHS portion of the machine only the VHS playback quality (TBC, DNR, picture stabilizer, etc.). I'm interested in the opinions and experiences of users who are familiar with the HS-HD2000U as it compares to the "classic" JVC SVHS units (7600, 7800, 9600, 9800, V10, etc.) that are highly thought of in this forum.

My main motivation for considering the Mitsubishi HS-HD2000U D-VHS over the JVCs is that is has less of a premium placed on it when sold on ebay and it is also likely that a D-VHS machine is likely to have seen less use (being a bit of a novelty) compared to a JVC SVHS machine which is more likely to have been used as a dubbing workhorse.

I'm very interested in the thoughts of the resident experts on this forum.

the HS-HD2000U is an EXCELLENT deck
it has the JVC TBC and an even better transport
i have sold several and would rate them right up there with the 9000 series JVC's

another nice thing is its compact size
just make sure you get the remote or a $50 discount
the remote is unique to that unit and hard to find

It's a good deck, we just don't see many of them because it was harder to find back in the day.
For $200, I'd get it.

I've heard that this unit gives the user the option to disable AGC. Is that true?

There's nothing in the user manual that would indicate that the AGC is switchable.
