Install of ATI's CMC hangs

A few days ago I went to launch CMC to capture some video on a working installation of CMC with my ATI 600 USB. However, I couldn't get an image to show, so I thought I'd re-install CMC (thinking that'd be a quick fix ... yikes, guess not)

I began running the un-install but after 5-10 minutes, no progress was being made. I do not recall on which step it hung, but I was in an actual ATI screen. I tried clicking "Cancel" but the "Please wait while the current process is finishing up" stayed on the screen for at least 15 minutes. Maybe I was a little impatient, but I killed the .exe in task manager. I thought I'd let it run all night. I awoke in the morning to a nice blue screen asking me to restart. So my thought now is: Let's just try to reinstall over top of whatever's left.

I can install the drivers from LS's .rar that was posted
..\180-V01122-200\Install\XP\TVW_HSUSB\setup.exe
..\180-V01122-200\Install\Vista\Packages\Drivers\WDM\TVW_HSUSB\s etup.exe

but if I go to install CMC, it hangs at "Currently Installing Catalyst Media Center". I've had this up for at least a good half hour with no progress.

I am logged in as Administrator and I have "Never Notify" set (as I've seen other posts where this was the culprit)

Any thoughts on how I can get CMC back up and running? Is there a manual un-install sequence? Am I just too impatient and killed all hope of ever getting my 600 USB working again? :depressed:

ATI cards are great, but their software is buggy as hell.
i have had to reinstall MMC several times
sometimes i fire up my capture PC and it is just plain borked, have to uninstall and reinstall
luckily is doesn't take long.

run CCleaner registry cleaner until it finds nothing, uninstall all ATI software
run CCleaner again, then reinstall

That did it! Thanks so much. There's a reason I come here to quickly solve my problems. Without it, my patience with this hobby wouldn't last long! :D

Ever had to reinstall one SEVERAL times?
Oh, what fun!
I've had to do that a time or two.

The install can get so fubar that you have to use the special ATI uninstall utility ... and even that sometimes doesn't 100% work! :rage:

Good tip. Even I would have overlooked that one as the first means of attack. :salute:
