Difference between PCI vs. USB ATI 600 capture card?
Besides the obvious being how they're installed of course. Actually, I'm more concerned with which version is better for my computer. I bought it in December 2009, and have never upgraded its hardware.
Compaq CQ5210Y PC Processor - amd athlon II X2 215 dual-core windows 7 home premium 64 bit edition I'm looking at 2 auctions on ebay for brand new ATI 600s. One is the PCI and one is the USB. Which is recommended for my setup? Also, I still haven't bought an s-vhs or TBC yet, but I'm very close to making my decisions and I'm curious if which s-vhs and TBC I get should determine which ATI600 to should get. |
They are actually different hardware. The PCI/PCIe card uses a chip labelled AMD T506 for analog-to-digital conversion, while the ATI 600 USB uses a little Texas Instruments TVP5150.

ive had both - i kept the pci and sold the usb
they work the same, but the pci keeps wiring much tidier and you dont have the big gangly usb stick hanging out of your tower. of course if using a laptop you have to use the usb i did have to buy and 2 rca to 1/8 phono adapter for the PCI version - i got a super nice one from Isimple |
My vote goes to the USB stick.
