I have installed ATI AiW 7500 VE PCI, thanks to the folx on this forum especially Zerowalker for sharing the installation CD..

I have so far 2 problems which might be related.

In the device manager, there's an unknown device Video Controller. I'm unable to allocate any drivers for this in the installation disc.

The 2nd problem is that there's no audio device found for this card. I see the Realtek audio device which is built-in soundcard for this computer and ATI AVStream Analog Audio Capture which belongs to ATI HD 750 PCIe.

I am sure that these 2 problems are related. In general I can live with it because I'll be using this card mostly to capture from the LaserDiscs routing audio into digital optical-toslink, but I'd prefer to fix the problem though.

Please advice what can be done. Thanks.

Device Manager > the unknown device > right-click, Properties > Details >

What is the device or hardware ID?

That will tell me what I need to know. (FYI: This is some of how you manually install ATI AIW + ATI MMC for Vista or Win7.)

Sure.

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&SUBSYS020D1028&REV_02\3&2411 E6FE&0&10

I hope I didn't mistype it. Thank you.

That doesn't look right. Which ID was that? Maybe I need the other one.
A Greenshot screenshot may help, too.

That was device ID. Hardware IDs are:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&SUBSYS020D1028&REV_02
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&SUBSYS020D1028
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&CC_038000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29C2&CC_0380

My capture computer is not even on the network.

Lordsmurf, do you want me to send you the screenshot of it?

Actually you know what? I think this Video Controller belongs to my motherboard device. Most likely it's this one:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...&categoryId=VI

And it doesn't work and I don't want it to work.

What I want to know is that why the audio part is not showing up in VirtualDub 1.9 for AiW 7500 VE. Any tricks I need to know?

Was the Realtek installed fine before the ATI?
Do you have sound outside VirtualDub?

Yes, Realtek is the motherboard's built-in sound card. I installed the drivers before.

I never bothered to check if I have the sound outside. But what I do know is that when I plug RCA unbalanced audio cable into the ATI's purple dongle and then capture AVI, the sound is not recorded. I am sure if I plug the sound to Realtek and select Realtek, the sound will be recorded. I can test it later. But I just want to confirm that ATI AiW doesn't have an ability to record the sound on its own without looping back to the sound card.

This was solved in your other post. You were trying to use the ATI for capturing the audio, but it doesn't have audio hardware. It's simply passthrough to an audio card. Install one, then use that.

So both problems have now been solved.
