Ok so I tried windv but it still splits the DVI tape into each scene and doesnt seem to
"Rip" the whole tape into one avi file? can it do this? or is there something else that can? cheers

It can capture the whole tape. I've not used it in a while, but I vaguely recall an option in the settings.
Try this: "Discontinuity threshold to 0 or 1."
