You don't want a Dazzle. That device will turn your videos into VCD-quality crap.

You have to use your VCR if you have video tapes. If you don't need to transfer VHS, I don't know why you'd be using your VCR. The DVD recorder has coax input for cable, antenna. Unless yours is messed up for some reason, like my LiteOn 5104, which makes fuzzy noises on the tuner. I use my VCR as the tuner for that one. All my other recorders, cable or antenna goes right in.

What DVD recorder are you using?

Most capture cards capture AVI. You have to encode to MPEG, takes time. There are a few MPEG capture cards, like ATI All In Wonder Radeons, and Hauppauge PVR-250's (not 150).

But a number of DVD recorders, like JVC, will outperform any capture card that costs under $1000.

- For sale in the marketplace: TBCs, workflows, capture cards, VCRs

I agree with LS 100% on his recommendation...I actually have a dazzle from years gone by and it never did as good as what I'm using now (VHS/TBC/DVD-recorder combo). I also have the ATI AIW and it does pretty good for a capture card...definately better than the Dazzle.

Cheers...Tom
