Faroudja video processors for upscaling video transfers?
Has anybody that transfers analog video to files, e.g. lordsmurf, tried using one of those Faroudja video processors to tbc, deinterlace with DCDi, and upscale to HD? I'm currently using VirtualDub with 2 osprey 460e cards to capture 8 concurrent sources and am considering using my Faroudja NR series DCDi video processor to upscale and transfer to HD. I'll need to convert the analog component HD to HD-SDI and use my Blackmagic capture card to capture in HD. Also, are there filters for vdub that will do the same thing even better?

Yes, I tried a model from 1999. Horizontal TBC is worse than using a Panasonic DVD recorder. The deinterlacing for VHS sources is nothing special.

Its overkill for the application, and as already noted, will worsen quality and waste disk space. Just buy an analog capture device, its cheaper and the end product is likely going to look quite a bit better.
