I was wondering if it was possible to capture at 16:9 with ATI MMC. There seems to be a couple shows broadcast that way, like The Sopranos and Enterprise.Edited by: Hambcastle

I actually don't think those are true 16:9, but another widescreen ratio.

Most PVR and almost all capturing software is 4:3 because it knows it'll have traditional source.

And actually, your tv source is 4:3 with matted widescreen, not true widescreen.

You'd have to capture AVI and then re-encode to MPEG, while cropping the image to widescreen in the encoder.

Only HD is true widescreen, and for that, you'd need an HD capture card.
