Hi,
Thank you for all of the info in your guides! I still encounter one problem in capturing from VHS. I get an annoying flicker usually near the top of the screen. I can see it on all VHS tapes (commercial and homemade) (some worse than others), but not at all when capturing from DVD through the same composite outputs on a Toshiba DVD/VCR combo (SD-K530), nor from my Hi8 camcorder using S-video. The playback of the VHS tapes on the TV is flicker free. This flicker is visible whether recording or just viewing the input, and when the tape is stopped and it just has a blank blue screen(in fact, with the blue screen I can see it rolling up the screen). If you have any ideas on how to get rid of this, please let me know.

Thanks,
jmolhava

There are several likely reasons.
The most common is that the VCR is causing it, giving off mistimed video signals.

Try another VCR and let me know how that works.

Hello
I have the same problem but not on all videos. I usually have no problem with the commmercial ones. I have tried different video players( including Sony an Jvc) but the problem still persists

The signal is dirty.
You most likely need a timebase corrector (TBC).
