In some older tapes it is common that I have this capture error (see attachment video).
These color bands appear randomly and they are a playing error because in the second and third capture they are in different frames.
These chroma artifacts appear in every combination (LINE TBC + FULL FRAME TBC), (LINE TBC, NO FULL FRAME TBC), (NO LINE TBC, FULL FRAME TBC), (NO LINE TBC, NO FULL FRAME TBC).
I tried to "bake" the tape following step by step well known procedures (52C° for 8hours and cooling back to room temperature), but that made any recognizable effects.
I have a Panasonic NV-HS 1000 VCR that should be a very good machine.
Anyone knows what could be the cause of this?
It is true that the tape is old, but the fact that sometimes the same frame is read well means that the real color is still there, and it's not corrupt.
A temporary solution is to make a multiple capture and then apply a median filter, but it doesn't always work.
