Hi guys, my ATI 600 USB isn't being detected with PowerDirector 17, is there a special driver that I need? In the capture window, it's just a blank screen, no playback of my VHS. I know my PC is detecting the USB 600 as when I select tuner capture in the capture window, the capture window goes all fuzzy and then when I disconnect the USB 600 from the USB port on my PC, the capture window goes blank. I have my S-Video and R&L audio outputs connected from my VCR into the correct inputs on the USB 600. I tried my Diamond VC500 USB 2.0 capture card similar to the ATI USB 600 and the video shows up in the capture window.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Smalliehunter

Power Director isn't a suggest software, and not a program it's tested with.
- For lossless AVI, use VirtualDub.
- For MPEG, use ATI CMC.

Let's setup VirtualDub first. What OS, and do you have the driver CD?

I'm using Windows 10. I have the CD that came with the USB 600, and I loaded it onto my PC.

I just now installed the cdrom that came with my "ATI 600 USB"

The cdrom is labeled:
200
180-V01122-200
Made in USA
ATI TV Wonder
Software & Documentation
- the installed CMC is version 1.0.4210 -CatalystMC (it does not have support for analog Input, later editions apparently did)

The hardware is:
HP Elitebook Folio G1

The operating system is:
Windows 10 Pro 1803

After installing I ran VirtualDub 1.10.4-AMD64
- Veedub64.exe

After starting:
File > Capture AVI
Device > ATI 600 USB
Video > Crossbar > dropdown [S-Video]

Analog video was connected to the Right Angle breakout "neck" cable.

When Audio "playback" is activated video and audio are displayed.

But when a test capture is run in VirtualDub, the optional timing graph indicates wild gyrations in Timing and loss of audio sync, switching Audio Playback off during capture, gyrations are Zero, and there is no loss of audio sync

Open Broadcast Studio - OBS 22.0.2 (64-bit, windows) > works fine with ATI 600 USB, but its kind of overwhelming.

The hardest part is configuring the "First Video Capture Device" and connecting that to the "ATI 600 USB Device" until its done once it can look like there is no way to access the ATI 600 USB when its fairly easy.. it is very "non intuitive" to newbies. But is a very slick tool.

Interesting. I've never tried to capture with x64 VirtualDub. Apparently both work.

There's a sticky in the capturing forum, or search for it, in order to install ATI 600 USB drivers in Win7/8/10, as well as download for the CD ISO. It's all there. The only time Win10 has install errors is when Win10 applies infamous updates that screw everything up. (I just ran into a Win10 snafu myself, but not for video. The lack of update made some apps quit working.)

the big myth that there is one version of Win10

They release a New version of windows every year.

Just like WinXP, WinV, Win7, Win8 they just wanted to be "Like Apple"

Its a bit like Reality TV at this point, which vendor, or what hardware will stay supported on "Windows Survivor Island"
