I downloaded a video file that was already a DVD ISO file. I want to transfer it to a video file, so I can edit the video file and put it back onto DVD

How do I go about doing that?

Have you tried extracting the file from the ISO using programs like ImgBurn, PowerISO, Winrar, or Winzip?

You don't "transfer" it. You extract the video as encoded MPEG video using one of the tools suggested.

What do you mean by "edit"? Any changes you make to MPEG must be re-encoded, which would be a quality hit. To prevent degradation you should use a smart-rendering MPEG editor. After editing, the MPEG video must be re-authored for DVD disc. All decent smart-rendering apps are paid software, but many have trial versions. Try TMPGenc Smart Renderer, which can directly import video from DVD ISO files and output a new MPEG video for authoring apps. TMPGenc Authoring Works can also import DVD video from ISO files, as well as BluRay and AVCHD formats, has smart-rendering edits, and will author and burn to optical disc including double-layer.

Also -- if your ISO is a copy-protected video, it's far more complicated.

What I meant by that is, I downloaded it, but I need to edit out a lot of what's on the video and leave only some of it, and burn the part that is left back onto a new DVD

I may be mistaken. Try following this guide provided by Any Video Converterhttps://www.any-video-converter.com/...iso-to-avi.php

That's terrible software. Don't do that. You'll ruin your videos.

This site has guides on proper extraction:
- http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/video/edit-dvd.htm

Any more info needed can be added here in this post.

In essence:
- extract MPEG with IFO mode in DVD Decrypter: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/dvd-...-download.html
- open VOB files in Womble (MPEG-VCR or Video Wizard), edit losslessly, save new
- reauthor in tool of choice (DVDWS2, etc)
