The Right (XP) PC and ATI All-in-Wonder AGP vs. PCI ...What's best?

Hello All,

Appreciate all responses to my last thread concerning HW/SW for capture/transfer of tapes. If wanting to go beyond my Hauppauge 1850, its clear that capture devices for the Windows 7 and beyond community are harder to come by....I still have my old XP loaded PC, which is completely dead (maybe power supply...don't know) but might be resuscitated:

Gateway Pentium 4, 2.53 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB hard drive. It has one AGP slot holding the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 video card, and three PCI slots holding these cards: Modem, USB 2.0 x 4, and Creative Sound Blaster Audigy w/Firewire.

I suppose the PCI stuff could be reconfigured to free up the AGP slot, if desirable.

If I read guidance on this site correctly, my old PC seems to be adequate (maybe adding a large portable hard drive) to use with All-in-Wonder cards for capturing, or what do you think?

Is there a "better" concerning AGP (AGP4?) vs. PCI cards?

The extensive article on All-in-Wonder Hacks, etc., indicates that the 7000 series cards when used with MMC 8 brought in more desirable features such as "Video Soap", etc.
Can any of the 7000 series cards (7200, 7500) be loaded with MMC 8?

Is there an advantage of the 8000 over the 7000 series? Are there cards to avoid over the entire series?

Finally, are there any quality issues among the cards branded as other than ATI (VisionTek, etc.)?

Regards
