I'm trying to capture audio & video from a game with VirtualDub on an older system using Windows XP SP3 (32-bit), and the audio is very warped and slowed down. It's kinda surreal and funny, but unfortunately not actually useful for my intended purpose. I tried the same process on my other machine with Windows 7 (64-bit), but in that case I've got no audio instead of garbled audio.

Any ideas where I could be going wrong?

Is audio playback enabled during capture? If so, turn it off! Also if possible use Win XP SP2. SP3 is bloated with security features that have the potential to interfere with capture software.

Another thing: Are you playing the clip back and listening to the audio in VirtualDub? It seems that VD is better at capture than at playback. There are many clips I have which have captured properly, but when I play them in VD the audio is a choppy mess. Try playing your clip back in a lightweight, dedicated A/V player program such as VLC and see how it sounds then.
