Digiwave and Vidicraft TBCs?
Hello people! Ofesad here from Argentina.
In my search of a TBC, I came across of this brands: Digiwave and Vidicraft. (Seems like Digiwave resells Vidicraft; or that Vidicraft is a cheaper version of Digiwave). Since I am unable to find any specific information about'em I wanna ask if anyone has heard of them? I am interested in two models, here are the specs (the documentation is in spanish, so I translated it): VIDICRAFT V8i Norm converter, timebase corrector and transcoder. Closed caption signal processor.
and here's the one I am most interested: Digiwave DMT-150i
What are your impressions, at least at first glance? Feel free to comment. Ofesad |
The Digiwave is a rackmount unit, and most rackmounts have issues with VHS. I'd have to test it. Just based off what I see, doubtful it'd be as good as DataVideo, Cypress, and a few other select units. Most are more trouble than they're worth.
Ditto for the Vidicraft, just another rackmount. (And BTW, this is NOT the same company that released the Vidicraft boxes in the 80s, as that company became Studio1, and later SignVideo.) Do both have s-video, or just the Vidicraft. Both look familiar, but I can't quite place it. The tiny buttons, rack plate design (oval screw mounts), and LED screens are a giveaway, I almost think that both brands are just rebadges of something else. Based on this lin, Vidicraft is a Digiwave sub-brand: https://www.digiwave.com.ar/download...8i_en_2_00.pdf Don't click the link, read the URL: digiwave.com/vidicraft If you get either of these, understand you're gambling. Budget accordingly. And even if it "works" for you, it may not for others, so be careful with advice. I've seen that way too many times over the years, when it concerns these sorts of TBCs. |

These remember me more of DPS TBC's. I also noticed that the sites have references between each other. Also, the telephone of Vidicraft is the same in Digiwave. And in the digiwave website they have "special offers" of Vidicraft products. BTW the Digiwave site has an English version: https://www.digiwave.com.ar/1005.html Quote:
I saw one used for 70usd. Also there's a Datavideo TBC (TBC3000) for sale here in Argentina (used but NIB) for 150usd. Ofesad |
