Hi,
I wonder if somebody could help me here.
I upgraded my DVD Recorder LiteOn LVW-5001 following the instructions for firmware upgrade in this site but something went wrong because I can only hear audio but I get no video at all.

My unit is relatively new, a US model, and had the 1163 firmware loaded.

Is there a way to go back to the original firmware status to get my video back?

Thanks.

The biggest problem with hacking firmware is that it's essentially a 100% complete gamble. Hacking the LiteOn machines was a pretty unknown thing, with almost zero files available online ... that is, until I put it up on this site. That said, I did not make the hack, and have limited knowledge on editing the code (hex).

Pretty much all the info I have available is on the LiteOn Tips page:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/liteon.htm

You may want to also invest some time at the LiteOn forums:
http://forum.liteon.com.tw

You can always download the 1163 official firmware (also found on the tips page) and just reflash. The units are pretty durable against bad flashes, in my experience (and from many reports I've gotten from others).

If there is no video, maybe the wiring is done wrong? Or you accidentally used the PAL and not the NTSC flash? Or maybe it was just bad, and you should try it again. Just experiment around a bit more before giving up. When you're convinced nothing is working, try the officials again, and that should hopefully set you straight.

Admin,
I went to the LiteOn site to download official 1163 but after I enter my SN (0101-0143-1163-F2SC) and submit info, it tells me:
>>> >> > You already have the latest firmware version on your LVW-5001/LVW-5005, you don't have to upldate!! < << <<<

Is there any other way to download the official 1163 firmware ?

Thanks.

This site has official ones too, for 1163 at least. Get them from here, as described above.
