Recording analog video directly to lossy codecs such as MPEG using a DVD recoder is one of the lowest-quality methods for digitizing home tapes. It increases the original noise levels and makes cleanup extremely difficult, in come respects often impossible. Analog sources are for cleanup and restoration are usually captured to a PC using specialized codecs for lossless compression, and processed using apps like Avisynth and Virtualdub. "Editors" are used for editing, not for cleanup.
If you care to take a look, a thread showing details of a restoration project was updated just today: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...lor-spots.html. The forum has thousands of posts about capture and cleanup. Try the restoration section at http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/video-restore/ |
