I'm converting a VHS tape I captured in Virtualdub (HuffyUV) to DVD (MPEG-2). I'm using Virtualdub to make edits (trim, masking, color, noise, sharpening adjustments, etc), and frameserving the output to TMPGenc 2.5. The capture (HuffyUV) looks fine, but after encoding it, the playback /motion isn't as smooth as I expected. Would frameserving to TMPGenc be the cause, or could it possibly the settings with TMPGenc? Or should I consider a different approach/encoder? The tape is animated cartoon, which isn't smooth to begin with, but the resulting MPEG appears to be less smooth during the motion scenes.
