Marcus MPEG2 usually refers to native DVD format (though SVCD can be called that as well), its basically whats inside the VOB files you get from the DVD Recorder.

When you say compress do you mean shrink? Or did you just want to author the mpg files into a DVD with menus?

Need more specifics

MPEG-2 is already compressed video.

You would do better to just author and burn those directly to DVD+R DL media, unless it's professional studio material (but even then, it may not shrink/transcode well).

I would re-encode everything in Procoder to 352x480 with a bitrate no less than 2500k, if I was unable to use DL media.
