Ripping/Importing question

I'm trying to rip a movie from a disc created by a dvd recorder with dvd decryptor in IFO mode. It rips fine (the resulting file is about 4 gig), but all of my different authoring software only recognize the first 30 seconds of the movie when I try to import it. For that matter, media player will only play the first 30 seconds. What am I doing wrong? My end goal is just to get a better looking menu for this movie.

Follow this guide.

My rca records in some weird ways... I ll have what looks like 2 large 2 gig files. When it is only 1 movie. go figure.

You could import the dvd through TDA save as mpeg. :)

Thanks - but that didn't help. The different programs that I have to edit and play the ripped file(s) seem to only recognize the first cell of each chapter. Help!

Try mpeg vcr > Import vob > convert the file type to mpeg2 program stream.

Your authoring program should recognize it then. Unless the file is corrupt?

I have used Nero Recode for recompiling DVDs and it works fine for me since that Alcohol 120 doesnt work for me sometimes and cause bad burns

I know what the error is. The MPEG timecodes and/or audio interlace are off. It's picking up data from the VOB.
Method 1 - Drop the file into Womble MPEG Video Wizard timeline. Export the video, but re-encode the audio to MP2.
Method 2 --- Demux with VOB Edit, remux with TMPGEnc Plus

I dont have any problems with alcohol. most the errors are usually caused from corrupt windows file, ASPI update or virus [}:)][88]

I m using the new version. I like it !!!! :D

actually if you are using womble go to tools and use the gop fixer option. This will fix time code issues without reconverting any audio/video streams
