I downloaded part one of a two part mp3. I have downloaded the first mp3 to my desktop. Is it possible to burn these to a DVD-R to play in a DVD player, or do I need to do a CD-R??

Sounds good. I just tried a DVD heh. No go. So I will get a pack of CD-Rs on Weds
