How to convert audio 29.97 to 23.976?

LHS = original dvd
RHS = bluray to dvd conversion. bluray is 24fps.

they are both NTSC and 16:9.

i can only spot 2 differences:
- LHS is BFF (bottom frame first), RHS is 3:2 pulldown
- LHS is 29.970 pics/s, RHS is 23.976 pics/s

what i want to do is use the audio from LHS with the video from RHS.
unfortunately, they do not playback at the same rate. LHS plays back quicker than RHS.

hence, i need to change the playback rate of the LHS audio to match the RHS video.

is there a simple way to do this?
what software would i need?

thank you.

Hi.

I have never used it, but you can change the sample rate with a small Avisynth script.

Have a look here and have a go.

tomr - thanks for that. i gave it a shot. also tried using audacity, goldwave etc. could not get it to synch. i'll probably need to use a visual video + audio synch editor software.

23.976 is 29.97 on playback. If they don't match then they probably aren't the same print. The best tool I know of is goldwave and Soundforge 9 or higher. kpmedia says if you can't do it, then he definately can't do it. :P

yes JMP, i agree that they are different prints. or possibly there has been some sort of screw up on one or both of the prints.

anyway, bottom line, there is no 1 click solution to this particular problem.

the only way out is to cut the audio & video into small chunks, force it to match, ie stretch/squeeze the audio to match that small section of video, then join all those pieces together.

that is just too much hassle. i'm not going to bother with it. i'll just have to hope for an english audio version of the video in the future.
