PhotoDirector freezes at 99% while analyzing a clip?

I have a PhotoDirector 12 which stucks/freezes at 99% while analyzing a clip in content aware. I found that the mp4 clips do not want to complete the analysis. The MTS clips were all analyzed and then opened so that the editing can start. Any advice?

It could be several things:
- this software is not very good at all
- MP4/MTS (H.264 AVC, I bet) is not easy to edit -- and H.264 intended for final distribution, not editing
- you may have issues on the hard drive -- either fragmentation or bad spots, which affect the video

Process of elimination is needed.
