Which is better Mpeg-VCR or Video Redo?
 

Just curious what everyone think? The big problem I have with Mpeg-VCR is that you can break a disc in to separate eps. Which if you are recording more than one ep at a time can be a problem.

Am I missing something on the Mpeg-VCR?

I've been using MPEG-VCR since 2003. It works well for removing commercials. It can cause other issues, however, it you try to do too much editing and splicing. When I need to do a lot of adding or moving around, not just chopping out commercials, I use Womble MPEG Video Wizard. I also have to use MVW when the source is a Panasonic-made disc.

I've been testing the Mpeg-VCR, would it be better to buy the Mpeg Video wizard. What can it do that makes it better than just the mpeg-vcr?

I dont have a problem using MPEG-VCR on Panasonic discs, not sure if its because I use the Mac to get the episodes and stuff to the hard drive but its never went out of sync or anything on stuff Brent sends me (Jackie Chan Version 1.0 for a large part was all Panasonic records)

But MPEG-VCR tends to have problems with anything over 3gb, especially if you do a lot of editing. I have seen sound disappear, video go out of sync. When that happens I just edit a few things, save it then reopen the edited file and finish editing...it works fine them for some strange reason.

Isnt MVW newer? That might account for it having more compatibility because I have been using MPG-VCR since I got the JVC DVD Recorder WAY back in 2003.

I use MPEG-VCR.. Never a problem here for me ;)

Actually, the JVC recorders came out in May 2004. But Womble MPEG-VCR is from 2002 or so. MVW is from late 2003. Different type of software, I suggest either one. MVW is easy to use. It's sort of like a really stripped down version of Adobe Premiere, but operates like MPEG-VCR at the same time.

I high suggest MVW as the best all-around MPEG editor in the most situations, with the least amount of troubles.
