Large flash and red lines problems?

Hello,
After reading this forum and it's numerous "How To", I gave it a try using my far from good workflow : Daewoo VQ431S (SECAM-L, PAL-B/G; NTSC) -> Magix Video Converter 3 -> VirutalDub 2 (I have just seen that 1.9 is better apparently...) I have followed the tutorial on how to setup VirtualDub (YUV2 encoding, etc). Apart from the few dropped frames (2 to 3) I have a lot of inserted frames (1000+ sometimes. I guess it's not as bad as having a lot of dropped one), 2/3 of my S-VHS (21 out of 34) appears to have a lot of artifact. I know I should buy a correct setup, but I was wondering if this kind of artifact will disappear with the appropriate hardware. You can find attached what I call a "good" video versus the ones of bad quality. These video are x264 encoding from Huffuyuv RAW (no filter added). You can find the encoding settings at the end. The two major problems (for me at least) is that if the "flash" artifact is present, it is on the whole video. As for the "red lines" that you can clearly see on sample n°4, if I adjust something called "PR" on my Daewoo, I can make the lines go lower and practicaly hide them, but then the top start jiggling a lot. Here are the images when the "flash" and "red lines" artifact appears. There are two version as I found out that they are not the same picture when I capture them using the built-in tool of Sony Vegas Pro, compared to the preview that it displays. Général Well I though hotlink would not break on edit and that I could not attach more than 5 files :smack: Here we go again. |
Are the recordings in SECAM-L?
If by PR you mean buttons at the front of the VCR, those usually adjust tracking. If you have a line of noise/distortion that moves up and down by adjusting tracking but will never fully go away that typically signifies that there was a tape path alignment issue on either the playback or recording VCR. The blue bit is the capture card struggling to lock to the video signal. These capture dongles (presumably similar chip to the diamond VC500) output a blue frame if the card if fails to lock to a video signal which is what you're seeing. The fix here would be to utilize something to act as a TBC, I don't know what works well for SECAM, maybe there are DVD-recorders that can do a satisfactory job. |

I guess it was on the recording side, as I have 13 tapes that are quite good. Quote:
Thank you for response ! |
To expand/confirm hodgey:
- better capture card needed - TBC needed - do not resize interlaced video |
