Would you pay £300 for this device still sealed? Just asked for a quote from a certain UK distributor.

I've read about it on this forum some like it some don't, it's got it's goods and bads.

Search the forum for the many reviews on different versions of this model number. Given that there could be any number of boards under the hood of that unit, would you be able to distinguish a good unit from a bad one once you took delivery? Would the distributor take it back if you decided this was not going to work for you?

Most of these are "black AVT-8710" clones. So no.

I actually asked them do they use the same board as the black AVT, also asked could they get hold of the green AVT hasn't replied on that one.

If this unit were guaranteed identical to a green AVT, there's at least some potential for usability. As a black AVT clone, you would be pissing away your money. Wore than using nothing.

I know mate this is why I have asked, he was fast to reply back to me when I asked about the 1T-TBC but not keen on replying back to me when I have asked a few more questions, I will wait and see.

As distributors, these guys probably know nothing about the "esoteric" differences between a functional TBC and a brick.

^ This.

The green AVT-8710 is from the 2000s.
The black is from the 2010s.

Odds of it being a green clone, sold new in any store, is 0. All NOS will be black, as sold by store/distributors. The only way you'd get green NOS is from an old buyer, who squirreled some extras away in the facility, and never needed them. This happens, but very rarely.
