- power board = gives power to TBC-100/VP card
- distro amp board = splitter + power for splitter, mostly VP-299, some models will differ on layout and pins
- TBC board, either direct TBC-100 (rare) or then VP board without on-card in/outs (Y/C or composite)

You can only remove amp board, splitter board, because it can induce patterning. But that is also dependent on the input signal quality, including VCR deck being used (some have worse reaction that others). Remember, workflow devices can conflict. Sometimes mild, sometimes bad, sometimes not at all. See also: why I now build complete tested workflows.
