Best machine for a UK user

Hi everyone.
New UK user here. I have been looking for a while, and seen lots of great advice, and the long list of best & v good players is great, but I dont want to buy a machine, and then want to buy another, later, which might be better. Is there a definitive top 3, top 5 machines? I know a place where I have access to a number of machines on the list, and am told if I have a particular model in mind, let them know, as they have a lot of machines they havent advertised yet. If it turns out the best 5 would be Pro machines, what would be the best consumer machine? Im sure a list like this can be subjective, but Im hoping there are 1 or 2 everyone agrees is the Holy Grail.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Chris

your best bet will probably be either the Panasonic NV-FS 200 or NV-FS 1000.
you will probably also want a JVC deck with TBC
you really need both a Panny and a JVC

unfortunately the JVC W-VHS decks dont work with PAL
but if you are doing any NTSC tapes they are the very best you can get.
