ADC Video Shaper / Visual Processor, what is it?
10 Attachment(s)
I wasn't shure which category this falls into, but here is some pics of the unit I found at a thrift store..Anyone know if it is worth splicing into the capture chain?..or can it cause more trouble than it is worth?..Not sure if it is Pro, or Pro-sumer equipment...After testing, the two "Pots" on the Right end are Video "Niosy or Dirty"..and it only has RCA type connectors....My Video capture set-up has All S-Video Connections,But my AV_Toolbox does have RCA Ins and Outs,as well as my Mitsubishi HU200U,and my ATI AIW 9600 XT has S-VHS Ins...But Pre Capture filtering is Good??:hmm:

From an internet search, it appears to be a pro-sumer level device, intended to work solely with a stereo system, most likely for "improving" VHS audio or something. But, really I couldn't find anything much on the device.
But with only RCA composite it would be something that was more for VHS or maybe even early video game systems, like the NES. |
Thanks tomswift, I too did a search, and as with a lot of late 80's to early 90's Video and Audio equipment,Info is Scarce at best..This unit was definately made for the Video signal only, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would help in the "Pre-VHS-Filter-Capture" workflow, or if it's an old, outdated box of useless flustration?..Still haven't tried it with my current system...and I am afraid of possibly frying my AV Toolbox and/or ATI AIW Card.

Maybe it's good, maybe it's not. It does look like one of the better composite units.
However, I'd much rather have pure s-video connections. As far as it frying for AVT-8710 or ATI AIW cards, it's not very likely at all. |
Thank you L.S., I will give it a try,I can try the unit in between VCR and AVTOOL, or in between AVTOOL and AIW card, However yes,my current connections are ALL S-Video W/O the Video sharper, Also the two last pots on the Video Sharper are "noisy" and I hope that's just dirty pots that need cleaning with LPS electronics cleaner:unsure:
