Is this a fake AVT8710 timebase corrector?
It's green instead of black, and it's a little cheaper than everywhere else online.

Nope!
That's what I have, in fact. The older green/black ones do not have any chipset issues either, as far as I know. So if you can get the older ones, do it. The newer black ones have the problems. I'd get one myself, but probably have enough. |
Ugh, I couldn't order off of their site because the options for the year of the credit cards' expiration wasn't there (mine expires in 2016 and the site's options only went up to 2015). So I ordered over the phone. I also asked about the color of the TBC and sure enough it's just an old stock photo. So I'll be getting one of the new black ones instead. But hey, $196.75 with free shipping. So assuming everything works fine, I'd say anyone looking for one and looking to save *a few bucks* should go with that site.

you can also hunt ebay, I've been seeing them sell used for 90-125 shipped the green ones that is

If you can guaranteed get the older green/black unit (pictured above), then it's easily worth $250 now. The problem, however, is that you'll mostly see the newer with-problem (potentially) units.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...H_Sold=1&rt=nc now that i'm looking more closely at them it could be a 'stock photo' hes using which would cause a bit of trouble if the item isn't actually the green/black model and in fact just the black model |
I have no idea how I missed those. Were they posted recently? Maybe they were listed after I bought mine (the 25th). I agree about your stock photo suspicions. When you see multiple items with the same picture, proceed with caution I say.

oct 15th and 6th then as recent as last night. yeah I don't like the multiple uses of a single picture..I wouldn't go near it personally
-- merged -- curiosity got the best of me and I sent the seller a message asking about his pictures, he just used the same image cause he was lazy...they are all legit green/black models...figures! back to hunting, hopefully he sells some more under $100 :D |
This is an old thread, but Omega still has this posted for sale (new) for < $200
Spider senses are firing. Anyone tried it? http://www.omegamultimedia.com/shop/...sp?itemid=3031 |

They're using a stock image. This was already confirmed. It was the black unit they were selling. The green unit was discontinued back in 2008. I've never seen a 2009 unit. Production was restarted in 2010, with flawed black units. At this late date, it's probably just an outdated webpage, as even the craptastic black units have been sold out for several years now. Production ceased due to the chips needed no longer being fabbed. |
