Distorted sound and picture on home movies

I have several home movies with distorted sound and the picture gets fuzzy like the tracking is off at times. These were recorded on a camcorder that used the small cassette tapes that you then place in to a larger VHS tape to view. Our voices sound like chipmunks...is there anyway to fix this problem???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks you,
Donnie

Welcome to digitalfaq. :salute:

We don't have enough information to answer your questions. What VCR you using to play your tapes? What is your capture device? What format are you capturing to? What is your operating system (Windows? Mac? Linux?). Are you using a tbc of any kind or any other components in your capture chain? Are you using filters during capture?

^+1 - Too little information.

A few additional questions.
VHS-C tapes? On what camcorder were the tapes recorded? What speed?
Is the bad viewing if played directly to a TV set, or after capture?
Is it a standard old SD tube TV set, or a High Definition TV? (VHS generally looks pretty bad if fed directly to a HD set.)
Is the chipmunk sound both high pitch and fast talk, as if played too fast?
Is the picture tearing or rolling?

Nice animals...:)

It was taken up at that time in Long-Play on VHS C instead of in the normal mode SP?

Was this issue fixed?! I'm having the exact same problem!

The thread died 2 years ago without reported resolution, if any.

Can you answer the above question with respect to your problem tape(s)?

Hi yes I'm not to good with tech so there's not much factual info I can give. All i know is that I played my VHS on a player which works fine and then a few months later I played it again and now the audio is squeaky and the talking is fast paced. It's only on some on my VHS's even though they are all the same. It makes no sense to me, if you can't help do you know of any places that do VHS repairs by any chance?
