VHS player is dead, need help to choose new one!

Ok, now my old Sanyo is dead, imposible to fix it so i need to buy a good unit to play and try to digitalize my old tapes.
I was reading the guide but there are many recomendations so i dont know if i must try to buy a JVC or a PANASONIC and what model to choose.

I need a PAL unit but in Spain is hard to find a prosumer/profesional units, they exists but i dont think is easy to find one

Everything I could suggest is already here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...ing-guide.html
I have PAL models, and I'm in NTSC-land. So finding one is not impossible.

S-VHS units are generally most easily found on eBay UK and DE (Germany)...

... though the DE site is too full of xenophobes for my liking (ie, only ship within Germany, blind to the fact that it's now a worldwide community). Sad, considering how they are politically, aka asylum fiasco.

Quickly searching for "JVC S-VHS" shows this unit:

Thanks, as i said in the first post i had read the VCR buying guide but there are lot of models and i dont know exactly what vhs is good enough for me.
I think the models market in blank intense in PAL list, for example •JVC HR-S8965EK over JVC HR-S8955EK are the recommended models , i believe that are better than the others on the list assuming that all are excellent VCR right?

All of them are good on the buyer guide. That was the point. :wink2:

The 8965 and 8955 are really no better/worse than the other. For PAL (ie, non-EP recording like NTSC), both Panasonic and JVC are excellent. All VCRs vary slightly in performance (tracking, luma/chroma, etc), but it's not always series to series but unit to unit. These are all good.
