I notice that ATI made some cards for both the PCie and AGP buses, for example the x800.

With respect to using the card for capturing analog from a VHS deck, is there any advantage of one bus over the other?
I have two machines, one supports AGP 4/8, and the other has PCIe.

On a related note, again, wrt analog video capture, what are the pros/cons of a AIW card having 128 MB of memory versus 256 MB of memory?
(as an aside, seems to me that the PCIe card is a little more insurance towards future-profing the machine)

Your insight is appreciated.

J

- No difference. Both use Theatre 100/200 chips.
- PCI, AGP or PCIe are fine.
- Graphics RAM matters only to graphics (ie, not at all on video capture system)
- You must use Windows XP, so no future proofing anyway.
- Some motherboards will reject some of the later AGP cards, because it had 4x/8x instead of 2x/4x AGP.
- Remember to get cards with all accessories.

Thank you! I wanted to future proof the hardware as much as possible. Agp is dead but at least I can get MB with pci support

Thanks!

AGP isn't dead -- just not sold new, or working with newer Windows (and are not needed for capturing).
