On Craigslist there's a few I can snatch up and test cassettes out on, see if they're capture worthy. I know that these aren't the ones on the recommended list as those are rare as all hell, but is there something here that sticks out or is significant, sort of good?

GO Video DDV2120
Sharp vc-h907u
Magnavox VHS VCR VR8405SL01
Panasonic VCR Combo Unit DMR-EZ37V
Panasonic PV-V4540
Insignia Progressive-Scan Multiformat Recorder/VCR Combo IS-DVD100121
GO Video GV3010X
JVC-DVD /VCR Combination HR-XVC27U
Toshiba W603
Toshiba DVD and VHS Recorder/ VCR Combo HiFi SQPB
DAEWOO 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR
Sony SLV N750
Go Video DVD-VCR Dual Deck DVR4000
Sony Hi-Fi Stereo 4 Head VCR SLV-662HF
Go Video DDV9550 HiFi Dual Deck
Panasonic VHS Model AG 500 VCR Monitor/Player
RCA Selectavision VDT600 VCR
Sony Video Cassette Recorder #SLV-575UC

My uncle also gave me his LITE-ON LVC-9016G DVD/VCR Combo for capturing if nothing on the list is good.

So...anything worthwhile on the list? Something better than the LITE-ON that's currently with me? Would I be better off buying and returning a VCR/DVD combo from Best Buy than using the LITE-ON or getting one of those off the list?

Maybe the Sharp. But it's still not suggested. It's just plain old VHS VCR from Walmart/Best Buy type consumer retail.

None will cleanup the tape in any way.

Combo decks are the worst choice of all.

The LiteOn uses the LSI chip, so the DVD recorder half may be fine. But use an external quality VCR.
