Are the filters I select in VD processed from the top down or bottom up? I have not found an answer here or the VD web site.

Thanks,
Steve

In order, top to bottom. The order matters.

generally speaking (also work for avisynth)

1- deinterlacing filter
2- Levels, colors filters etc..
3- Denoiser (if there is very much noise use in place 2 or even 1)
4- Resizer

I try to deinterlace last, unless the NR filter insist.

Color/levels are be tricky as well.
Sometimes the correction adds noise, but then you don't want to correct (for example) chroma noise.

Avisynth has no one-size-fits-all scenario.

Be careful of source bias, due to your usage: VHS, Hi8, film, Youtube, unknown sources, etc. It's why I general mention, as much as possible, that my use of Avisynth is almost exclusively for VHS work. Almost.

But I'm sure stevevid is getting good info from all of our input, he can see varied preferences.

Yep, except I'm starting to believe I have uncovered latent ADHD. I keep going off in a variety of directions each time I see something interesting. I'm working hard to stay focused on one video at a time, but it's not working yet.
